Cause of death was cancer of the lungs. He had been ill three or four months. His age at death was 58 years, 5 months and 28 days. His parents were Noah and Nancy Glotfelty Newman of Salisbury. In early life Mr. Newman owned and operated a grocery store. He was a salesman for Reed Murdock and Company for 13 years, operated the Mt. Savage Hotel at the Savage mountain on Route 40 for six years and then became manager of Greyhound bus line rest stops in various places for four years until forced to come home on account of his health. His wife, Ada B. Walker (Hostetler) Newman, whom he married in 1935, is his only survivor. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church of Salisbury, of Northern Light Lodge No. 40, F. & A. M., at Maumee, Ohio, of Ft. Miami Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, of Order of Eagles No. 1273 of Frostburg. Funeral services will be held at his home at 2:30 Friday afternoon, with Rev. Ira S. Monn officiating. A Masonic funeral ceremony will be conducted by members of Meyersdale Lodge 554, F. & A. M. Burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery under the direction of Stanley Thomas, mortician.
