Maust, Route 1, Salisbury, at 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, of myocarditis. Miss Newman was a registered nurse for 26 years, having taken her training at Suburban General Hospital, Bellevue, Pittsburgh, and started private nursing in the Pittsburgh area immediately thereafter. About seven years ago, her health began to fail and she registered with the hospitals for work in them. This she continued for about five years, when her health became so bad that she had to give up work and she came to Salisbury to stay with her sister. On the night of her death, she was unable to sleep because of her heart, and before morning she passed away in bed. Miss Newman was born in Salisbury on June 20, 1897, a daughter of Richard and Amanda (Glotfelty) Newman, and was 49 years, 2 months and 9 days old at her death. She is survived by one sister, Lela, Mrs. Irvin Maust; one brother, Harvey E. Newman, West Salisbury merchant, and a half-brother, Harry Newman. She was a life-long member of the Reformed Church. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 31st in St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church with the pastor, Rev. Ira S. Monn, officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F.
