She was born on Aug. 9, 1921, in Niagra Falls, N.Y., daughter of the late Robert and Stella Sherwen Easton. Mrs. Newman was a resident of New Castle, Pa.; Canfield, Ohio; Boswell, Pa.; and Naples, Fla. Member of the St. James Episcopal Church Women's Auxiliary in Boardman, Ohio; the Petit Fleur Garden Club in Canfield, Ohio. Was a library volunteer in Youngstown, Ohio, and Naples, Fla. She was an active bridge player, and a decoupage artist. Mrs. Newman is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Covelle J. Newman; daughters Holly Newman and her husband John Salsberg of Boston, Mass,; Beth Newman and her husband Philip Varey and Laurel Newman, all of Atlanta, Ga.; son Christopher J. Newman and his wife Anna Marie Newman of Poland, Ohio; brothers Robert Easton of Akron, Ohio, and Peter Easton of Winter Park, Fla., and grandchildren Alexa, Ashley, Elizabeth, Emily, Daniel, and Nicholas. A memorial service was held on Tuesday,Aug. 18, at the Naples Funeral Home, 3107 David Blvd., with the Rev. Dr. Gordon D. Postill, hospice chaplain officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Naples Community Hospital or Hospice of Naples. Daily American, August 19, 1998
