Nicholson, 90, of Confluence RD 3, died Jan. 23, 1996, at Henry Clay Villa, Markleysburg. Born Nov. 2, 1905, in Stewart Township. Son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Grimm) Nicholson. Preceded in death by his wife, Oretta Christena (Rugg) Nicholson; two daughters: Vilda Holliday and Elva Hoover, and four infant children. Survived by sons: Alvin, Confluence; Gabriel, Fort Hill; Roger, Listonburg; Reece, Confluence, and Rampsey, Sewell, N.J.; daughters: Norma Snyder, Accident. Md.: Cindy Sheaffer, Apollo; Joyce Porterfield, Confluence, and Leesta Lichty, Listonburg, and a grandson whom he raised, Darwin Kemp, Sewell, N.J. Also 41 grandchildren as well as great- and great-great-grandchildren. He was a retired miner, farmer and carpenter. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Rev. Mark Blair officiating.
