Born Oct. 23, 1934 in Somerset, daughter of the late Oran W. and Ada Elizabeth (Leazier) Phillippi. Preceded in death by her oldest son, Gregory Nicholson. Survived by her loving companion of 30 years, Elmer Buffy, Central City; former husband Gene Nicholson, Somerset; brothers Oran Phillippi and wife Phyllis (Orlando), Monroe, Ga.; Neal Phillippi, Chesapeake, Va.; and sister Connie Hetrick, Shanksville. Loving mother to her surviving children: Jeffery, married to Sue Ann (Davis), Rockwood; Kathy, married to Bardon Strayer, Stoystown; Susan Collins, Somerset; Terril, married to Laurie (Lease), Stoystown; and daughter-in-law Sandy (O'Brien) Nicholson, New Centerville. Loving grandmother to Scott, Graeme, Hope, Heather, Chad, Kelly, Craig, Cassandra, Jherrica, Shelby, Christine, Jennifer, Ashley, Hayley, Courtney, Terry Wayne and Justin, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanor graduated from Somerset High School in 1952. She was well-known for her excellent sewing skills and taught herself to reupholster furniture. She operated Nicholson's Upholstery Shop from her home in Somerset (which later moved to Shanksville and then Central City) for approximately 45 years until 1996. She was a long time member of the Unity United Church of Christ, Shanksville. She is best remembered for her years of service as the director of the children's choir and youth choir. She also served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jay E.
