Nicholson, 71, died at his home in Elk Lick Township Friday, Jan. 16, after an illness of two weeks. He was born August 3, 1876, and spent his entire life in Somerset County. He was the son of Simon S. and Elizabeth (Vought) Nicholson, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Fannie Lepley Nicholson; two sons, Ralph E. and Alva Nicholson, Meyersdale R.D., and the following daughters: Mrs. Charles Uphold, Mrs. Lawrence Hetrick, Mrs. James Swearman, Mrs. Oscar Johnson, Mrs. Hiram Grew, all of Meyersdale, and Mrs. Lloyd Miller, Salisbury. Nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive. In addition he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Krause, Meyersdale; Miss Harriet Nicholson, Somerset; and Mrs. Nelson Jones, Bellefonte. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, in the family home, Rev. George E. Ely, pastor of St. Paul's (Wilhelm) Reformed Church, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, Meyersdale mortician. Meyersdale Republican, January 22, 1948
