Niemiec, 86, Acosta, died Feb. 4, 2008, at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born Aug. 15, 1921, in Sonman, Cambria County, son of Michael C. and Mary (Shutty) Niemiec. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Kathryn Niemiec and Anna Yokobosky; infant sister, Hedwig; and brothers, John, Frank and Joseph Sr. Survived by sister, Agnes Witkowski, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; brother, Stanley, Acosta; sister-in-law, Rosemary Niemiec, Acosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. An Army veteran of World War II, participant in the New Guinea Campaign of the Pacific Theater, recipient of the Bronze Star and retired in 1951 with 11 years of military service. Former office employee for Hooker Chemical Co., Niagara Falls, N.Y., retiring and moving back to Acosta in 1981. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish; the church choir, VFW Post 554, Somerset; and Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta. The Rev.
