Nightingale, 84, of Garrett, died July 7, 1980, in Berlin. He was born Nov. 2, 1895, in Shepherd Hill, Ossett, England, a son of the Thomas and Sabina (Firth) Nightingale. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Golda Fullerton, and a daughter, Janet Stoner. He is survived by these children: Dorothy, wife of James Ravenscraft, Meyersdale RD 4; William of Garrett; Scott of Somerset; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Harry of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Salina Hoyman of Garrett. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Garrett, and a member of and past commander and post service officer of the Charles E. Kelly Post American Legion, Meyersdale. He was a member of the 40 'n 8; Garret Chamber of Commerce; and Has Been Club of Cumberland, Md. He was a former boxer, manager and promoter. He worked as a coal broker. Friends were received at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services were held with the Rev. William Phennicie. Interment, Highland Cemetery, Garrett.
