He was born November 1, 1931 in Garrett, a son of the late Ernest T. and Goldie (Fullerton) Nightingale. He was preceded in death by sisters: Janet Stoner and Dorothy Ravenscraft; brother, Scott Nightingale and grandson, Michael Scarmark. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol (Beal) Nightingale and these children: Robert and wife, Marsha (Belsae), Friedens; Linda married to Bernon Conn, Somerset; James and wife, Darlene (Whipkey), Simpsonville, S.C. Six grandchildren: Kristy (Conn), Scarmark; Maryann (Nightingale) Pletcher; Melissa (Nightingale) Frampton; Eric, Ryan and Nicole Nightingale. Eight great grandchildren: Ashley Pletcher, Steven and Michael Scarmark; Breanna, Brandon and Jaden Frampton; Dylan and Derrick Nightingale. A life time member of the Garrett Vol. Fire Co., Former Mayor of Garrett and Retired carpet installer for Stoner Furniture, Rockwood. He loved the outdoors -hunting, fishing and mushroom and ginseng hunting. He was also a avid photographer and loved his Beagle "Judy." Friends were received Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Davis Officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Garrett.
