She was born in Monroeville, a the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Schrock) Griffith. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Joseph B. Griffith of Sewickley of Edgeworth. Betty is survived and dearly loved by her children, Carl G. and his wife, Lynne (Bates), of Sewickley and Frederick S. and his wife, Michele (Baker), of Greensburg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Griffin and Claire Nincke and Sharon Nincke, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Frederick O. and Sharon Griffith, of Charleston, S.C. Additionally, she is survived by five nieces; one nephew and four great-nieces and many very dear friends. She was employed by Westinghouse Corporation until her marriage in 1946. She lived and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Australia before settling with her family at her farm in Ligonier. Betty was proprietor of American Eagle Antiques, first in Greensburg and then in Ligonier. A friend to all she met, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past member of Ligionier Valley Country Club and the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. Betty was an active animal right's advocate whose home became shelter for many strays. Memorials be made to Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation, 121 W. Second Avenue, Latrobe, Pa. 15650.
