"Bud" Norris, 79, of Shaffer's Run Road, Fairhope, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 18, 1918, in Allegheny Township, Somerset County, the son of the late Andrew and Emma (Bauer) Norris. On March 19, 1941, he married Hilda L. Ringler. She survives, along with eight children: Gary W. Norris, married to the former Karen Diest, of Somerset; Richard E. Norris, married to the former Cheryl Emerick, of Sykesville, Md.; Ronald L. Norris, married to the former Rebecca Maul, of Friedens; Kenneth L. Norris, married to the former Charlene Hoppert, of Fairhope; Stanley W. Norris of Fairchance; Sandra K. Stiffey and husband Philip of Salisbury; Donna J. Brant of Johnstown, and Brenda G. Norris of Hyndman; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Norris was a carpenter for many years and retired from Penn Lines of Scottsdale. He also was a former township supervisor for Allegheny Township. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Berlin, the Last Man's Club of World War II Veterans in Berlin; the Jenners Rod and Gun Club, the New Baltimore Sportsmans Club, and the Somerset County League of Sportsmen, where he also had served as treasurer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Duane Bayle officiating. Interment, Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fairhope RD 1. Memorials may be sent to the Am.
