Novison, 94, Somerset, formerly of Jenner Township, died April 23, 2007, at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 1, 1912, in Johnstown, son of William R. Sr. and Louise (Gorney) Novison. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Herbert and William Novison; and sister, Elizabeth Giles. Survived by wife of nearly 59 years, the former Dorothy G. Adams; daughters, Sandra, married to David Flower, Somerset; and Iona, married to Bill Rice, Somerset; grandsons, Matthew D. Flower, and special friend, Candace Allen, Hagerstown, Md.; and Jeffrey A. Flower, and special friend, Rebecca Wild, Somerset; great-grandson, Micah Flower, Somerset; sister, Helene, married to Robert Lapham, Upland, Calif.; niece, Edna Robertson, Oklahoma; numerous other nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Ruth Lucca, Somerset. A graduate of former Boswell High School. After moving to Detroit, Mich., he owned and operated the Ausable Restaurant and was a machinist for National Machine Products. He then joined the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in North Africa and Italy as a corporal and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Sharpshooting medals. After the war, he moved back to the Boswell area and became a farmer, from which he retired. Member of the former Mount Zion Lutheran Church and Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. In his younger years, George was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed reading, tending his lawn and watching sports. He especially loved spending time with his beloved pet dog, Sam. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where a service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jacquelyn S. Ahern and Vicar Lucy Francisco officiating. Interment Mount Zion Cemetery. Graveside military rites by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
