  Owen C. Oaks, 83, Boswell, died Nov. 27, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center,
  Johnstown.
  
  He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Friedens, son of the late Milford G. and Mabel
  (Boyts) Oaks. Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Custer
  and Frances Neiman. Owen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith (Shirey)
  Oaks; children, Janice (Terry) Henry, Jennerstown; Diana (Roy) Lauper,
  Greensburg; and Gary (Carol) Oaks, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Douglas Henry,
  Tracy Little, Jill Surloff, Rebecca Lauper, Robert Lauper, Christie Lynch,
  Elaine Kaschimer, David Oaks and Carrie Manis; 10 great-grandchildren; and a
  sister, Lois (John) Flick, Berlin. A 1938 graduate of Somerset High School. A
  World War II Army veteran of the 350th Infantry and was retired from Mardis
  Motors, Somerset. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown and the Stoystown
  American Legion Post 257. He volunteered at RSVP and Meals on Wheels and
  enjoyed bowling at Terrace Lanes, Somerset. Family will receive friends 3 to 8
  p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until
  service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown. The Rev.
  Walter L. Startzel and the Rev. Jacqueline Ahern officiating. Interment Odd
  Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial
  contributions be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown, PA 15563 or to Meals
  on Wheels, 235 W. Church St., Somerset, PA 15501.
