Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Boynton, he was the son of the late William James and Margaret Pearl (Clites.) Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Alice M. "Chic" (Harris) O'Donnell, whom he married July 28, 1950; one son, John William O'Donnell and wife, Toni, Grantsville, Md.; one sister, Esther "Pat" Miller, Salisbury; three grandchildren, Matthew and Michael O'Donnell, Grantsville, Katie O'Donnell, Morgantown, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. O'Donnell was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He was a retired supervisor for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., Cumberland, Md. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the USS Saratoga CV-3, in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of American Legion Post 459, Salisbury, past president of the Salisbury Lions Club and past president of the Salisbury Borough Council. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Wednesday. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The Rev. Wanda Lester officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ.
