DANIEL E. OFFUTT

  Daniel Offutt, 70, Garrett County, Maryland financier, died Friday evening, 
August 20, at 9:30 o'clock of a heart attack.  He was stricken on the street 
near the home of the Misses Miller, Second Street, Oakland, Maryland, where he 
was rooming.
  Mr. Offutt was president of the Garrett National Bank, chairman of the Garrett 
County Selective Service Board and one of Oakland's most prominent businessmen.
  He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Karin Offutt, and one son, Daniel Edward Offutt, 
III, Oakland.  One brother, William R. Offutt, Oakland, and one sister, Mrs. 
Elizabeth Polk, Baltimore.
  Mr. Offutt, a son of Daniel E. and Arrabelle Seymour Offutt, was born in 
Oakland, September 22, 1872, and spent his entire life in his native town.
  Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Bolden Funeral Home, 
the former homestead of the Offutt family and the birthplace of Mr. Offutt.  The 
services were in charge of Rev. H. Kearney Jones, Episcopal rector.  Interment 
was in Oakland Cemetery.
