Elbert Elijah Oney, 94, a retired Lutheran minister, died recently in the Old People's Home in Zelienople, after a brief illness. A native of Washington County, Virginia, he was born July 27, 1880, to Rev. William and Catherine (Graseclose) Oney. He had been a resident of the Old People's home since Sept. 30, 1965. Rev. Oney served in the Salisbury, Greenville and Grantsville Lutheran Churches from 1915 to 1917 and went to St. Paul's Kittanning Parish. He retired from the ministry in 1956. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Charlotte Boyer Oney, who resides at the Old People's Home, and a half-sister, Mrs. William Rinkes of Mt Jackson, Va. The funeral service was held in the Chapel at the Old People's Home, with the president of the Pittsburgh-West Virginia Synod of the Lutheran Church officiating. Burial in Zelienople Cemetery.
