All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ CLYDE ALBERT OPEL Clyde Albert Opel, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Opel of Keyser's Ridge, Md., was born Feb. 26, 1921, and died July 3rd, 1932, at the age of 11 years, 5 months and 7 days. His death came as a shock to friends and neighbors, because of his brief illness. A week prior to his death he was taken ill with measles, and later developed pneumonia and inflammation of the brain, which caused his death. Clyde will be greatly missed by the family and friends, who loved him for his sunny disposition and friendly smile. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Sunday School, of Cove, Md., and was baptized March 2nd, 1921. He is survived by his bereaved parents and six sisters, namely: Alma, Mildred, Edith, Esther, Leota, and his twin, Clandine. One infant sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the family home, Tuesday, July 5th, at 2 o'clock p.m., by Rev. Fickenscher. Interment in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Cove, Md. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral. Among those from a distance were: Lewis Opel and son, of Elkins, W.Va.; E. E. Opel, Richmond, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Menges, Akron, Ohio; Chas. Hammond, Mrs. M. Straub, Mrs. F. Walton and Mrs. Anderson, Cumberland, Md., and Mrs. Goulden, of Buffalo, N.Y.. Floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
