OPEL George H. Opel, 63, died June 10, 1984, at Allen Hospital, Oberlin Ohio, of a heart ailment, after two weeks illness. He was born December 7, 1920, in Elk Lick Township, Meyersdale. He was the son of the late William H. and Ella (Witt) Opel. He had resided in Oberlin, Ohio for 39 years and had been employed as a machine operator at Timm Springs, Elyria, Ohio, for 33 years. He was an active member of East Oberlin Community Church. One of his principle interests was Little League baseball, serving in many capacities including commissioner. He is survived by his wife Helen (Baker) Opel, two sons, George (Buddy) at home and John, with the US Air Force, Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Susan) Butz, of Oberlin; two brothers, LeRoy, of LaGrange, Ohio; Clark, of Wellington, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. George (Doris) Martin, of Meyersdale; Mrs. Evelyn Shaw, of Frostburg, Maryland and three grandchildren.
