Opel, Mecca, Ohio, died at the Warren City Hospital, Friday, Sept. 6th, following a surgical operation, to which he submitted a week before. Born Jan. 17, 1881, a son of Henry J. and Sevilla (Gnagey) Opel of Elk Lick Twp., he was 65 years, 7 months, 19 days old. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth (Lindeman) Opel; and six children - Mrs. Caroline Kennell and James Opel, Mecca, Ohio; Mrs. Nina Ream, York, Pa.; Geneva, Lebanon, Oregon; Mrs. Dorothy Hardesty, Cortland, Ohio; Milton Opel, Jr., Johnstown, Ohio, and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and six sisters - John Opel, Keyser's Ridge, Md.; Eli Opel and Mrs. Sadie Dart, Lebanon, Oregon; William, Meyersdale R.D. 2; Miss Annie Opel, Salisbury; Mrs. Alice Newman, Fairchance; Mrs. Ellen Weller and Mrs. Mary Firl, Summit Mills, and Mrs. Elizabeth Maust, Walnut Creek, Ohio. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Love funeral home, Cortland, Ohio, with Rev. Dittman, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery, Cortland.
