Owens, 73, of Laurel Wood Convalescent Home, Johnstown, formerly of Soap Hollow Road, Holsopple, died Feb. 28, 1999 at Memorial Medial Center, Johnstown. Born Aug 8, 1925, son of Ellsworth and Minerva (Rieger) Owens. Preceded in death by parents; sister Norma Gindlesperger and Shirley Maines; brothers, Clarence, Francis, James, and Raymond; a stepson Willard Thomas; also wife, the former Mayme Gindlesperger. Survived by daughter, Norma Owens, Hooversville; stepchildren: O. Eileen Moran of Soap Hollow Road, Holsopple; Mary Bishop, Chicago, Ill.; Delores Deist, Stoystown; and Robert Thomas, Johnstown; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was a brother of John, Robert, Ralph and Edward, all of Johnstown. Also a sister-in-law Ann Owens of Irwin. Member of Jennerstown United Methodist Church. An Army veteran of World War II. Retired from Ringler Motors, Johnstown, and a bus driver for McClwain Bus Lines. Family receiving friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. John Gweary officiating. Interment Stahl Mennonite Cemetery.
