Mr. Parlette had returned from a three weeks' lecture trip in the West and, not feeling well, took treatment and felt some better. On Tuesday evening, Nov. 18th, he gave a lecture in Chicago, at the conclusion of which he was stricken and died the next morning at 11 o'clock. Mr. Parlette was a first cousin to Howard Phillips and C. A. Phillips of Meyersdale and also of the Thomas sisters, former residents of Meyersdale. Mr. Parlette specialized on the philosophy of self-development and mental improvement. He was the author of such books as "The University of Hard Knocks," "Go Getters and Go Givers," "It's Up to You," "Pockets and Paradise," "What's on Your Film," etc. He was born in Delaware, Ohio, and was graduated from Ohio Northern University. He was a member of the American Press Humorists and was editor of the Lyceum Magazine for many years. He was also president of the Parlette- Padget Company, publishers at 75 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, Ill. Mr. Parlette lectured in Meyersdale on a Lyceum course some years ago, and also lectured in Salisbury on the Chautauqua platform several years ago, and upon this occasion spent several pleasant hours in Meyersdale with his relatives.
