Parnell, died at her home in Confluence on Wednesday, November 12, at 2 p.m., at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 28 days. She had been sick for four months and twelve days during which time everything that medical or surgical skill could accomplish was tried, but, without avail. Mrs. Parnell was born near Berlin on January 12, 1855. She was a daughter of Henry B. and Elizabeth (Dively) Altfather. She spent her younger years in the vicinity of her birthplace until her marriage on November 24, 1881, to John B. Parnell. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Merrill Parnell, Clairton, Pa.; Russell Parnell, Cleveland, O.; Edgar M. Parnell, Confluence; Herman Parnell, Baltimore, and Miss Elizabeth Parnell, at home. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also by one brother, H. B. Altfather, Hyndman, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Blubaugh, Berlin. Mrs. Parnell was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. Her whole life was devoted to her family and her church. During her 40 years' residence in Confluence she was highly respected for her sterling qualities. She was a devoted wife and mother and good neighbor. The funeral services, at which all her children were present, were held at her late home on Friday, November 14, Rev. Geo. O. Ritter officiating; interment in the Addison Cemetery. The following persons from a distance attended the funeral: H. B. Altfather, Hyndman; Mrs. Bertha Blubaugh and family, Berlin; R. T. Altfather and family and Miss Nell Altfather, Uniontown, and T. R. Bender, Clairton. Undertaker C. B. Humbert had charge of the funeral. Meyersdale Republican, November 20, 1930 --- ELLA ALTFATHER PARNELL (Correction) In the obituary of Mrs. John B. Parnell, of Confluence, published last week, her Christian name was erroneously given as Etta instead of Ella. She was a daughter of Henry B. and Elizabeth Brougher (not Dively) Altfather, and besides her husband, children and grandchildren, mentioned in last week's paper, is survived by two brothers, Fred Altfather of Covington, Va., and H. B. Altfather, of Hyndman, and three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Heffley, of Garrett; Mrs. W. J. Robinson, of Rock Cave, W.Va., and Mrs. Bertha Blubaugh, of Berlin. Mrs. Heffley spent five weeks at Confluence nursing her sick sister. Meyersdale Republican, November 27, 1930
