He was immediately rushed to the hospital but died of a broken neck. Others in the car were injured only slightly. He was near twenty-six or seven years of age. He is survived by his parents and one sister, Helen. Close relatives in Meyersdale are Mrs. Sally Hoffman, Miss Mary Hocking and Miss Lulu and John Hocking, whom Jack visited several days each summer. Other relatives are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seibert, of Houston, Texas, and George Hocking. Because of his frequent visits to Meyersdale he was well known by the younger set and the older folks and his death was quite a shock to all who knew him. Meyersdale Republican, May 30, 1940
