Born Sept. 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Nunzio and Brigida (Carrara) Lattanzio. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty (Smearman) Patsy; a stepson, David Coughenour and wife Sandy of Oldtown, Md.; grandson, David Coughenour Jr., of Wilmington, Del.; two great-grandsons, Austin Coughenour and Dillon Coughenour; a sister, Margaret Biezonka and husband Stan of Chicago; sisters-in-law, Naomi Patsy, Cumberland, Md., and Mary Patsy, Berlin; three brothers-in-law, Hunter Smearman and wife Jane, Strothers, Ohio; Floyd Smearman and wife Pearl, Meyersdale; and Lloyd Smearman and wife Lois, Meyersdale; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Patsy was Catholic by faith, was retired from Pittsburgh Plate and Glass in the Float Department after 30 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and was a Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of the American Legion in Meyersdale and the Haystack Mountain Sportsman Club. Friends were received May 11 at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, LaVale. Funeral services were conducted May 12 in the Hafer Chapel. Interment followed in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. The New Republic, May 17, 2001 [P0101]
