Mr. Patton had been ill for about a year and had spent some time in a Cumberland hospital. He had recovered sufficiently to be able to be out again however, but about a week ago he fell ill again and pneumonia, which developed, proved too much for his weakened condition. A son of Henry and Mollie Fuller Patton, he was born near here, Sept. 14, 1889, and had spent practically his entire life in this community. For a number of years he was employed in the coal mines here, but a few years ago he built a small store and service station just west of Grantsville, which he has since operated. He was a member of the Grantsville Lutheran Church and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. Surviving, besides his wife, the former Bessie Butler, are three daughters, Mrs. Elwood Broadwater, Melcroft, Pa., Lottie and Lorna Patton, at home; three sons, Rodney C. Patton and Harry Patton, Cumberland, and Dale Patton, Cresaptown; three sisters, Mrs. Morgan Scott and Mrs. Lott Sheets, Hopwood, Pa., Mrs. Lee Durst, Grantsville, and two brothers, Norman L. Patton, Grantsville, and William O. Patton, Holland Falls, N.Y., and two grandchildren. Meyersdale Republican, March 12, 1942
