Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter, Juniata, and grandson, Paul F. Bako; brothers William, Michael, Joseph, Stanley and Stephen; sisters Mary Palmer and Helen Hoffers. Survived by wife, the former Edna Shick; daughters Henrietta, wife of William Pilat, Johnstown; Loretta Keohan, Melrose, Mass.; son, Thomas, married to Elaine Amistadi, Johnstown; also 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Andrew, Tarcntum; John, Cheswick; Carl, Mount Pleasant, and Frank, Acme, and sisters Anti LaBuda, Acme, and Caroline Steft, Mount Pleasant; also numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Davidsville, and UMWA. Coal miner of 54 years with Hillman Coal & Coke Co. Avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Observed 68th wedding anniversary Nov. 13, 1997. Friends received from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held Sunday evening. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Church, Father Michael Lewandowski, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, near Jerome.
