Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Friedens, he was a son of the late Lawrence George and Melda Ruth (Zerfoss) Paxton. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Paul and George; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Slaw and Mrs. Dorothy Williamson; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Jean Paxton. Survived by his wife, the former Alice Joyce Sager, and these children, Larry A., Friedens RD 1; Mrs. James A. (Barbara J.) Shaffer, Stoystown; Mrs. Ace E. (Michele) Clark, Hinesville, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Jonas (Florence) Peck, Deer Park, Md.; and Mrs. George Margaret Pierre, Windber. He was a dragline operator for Svonavec Inc. since 1958 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Listie Brethren Church. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and between 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ronzil L.
