She was born in Draketown on August 2, 1861, and was a daughter of Alexander and Matilda (Tissue) Ansel. She had been a resident of Meyersdale for the past 35 years. Surviving are her husband, William Fouche Payne, a retired Baltimore & Ohio railroad engineer, and the following children: Mrs. O. O. Cook, Rockwood; Mrs. Elizabeth Sondhiem, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Frank H. Price, Jenkins, Ky.; Mrs. Ware Deeter, Meyersdale, and C. V. Payne, Connellsville. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Payne home with the Rev. John B. Warman, pastor of the Meyersdale Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in the Hyndman Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price and son, Meyersdale morticians. Meyersdale Republican, May 7, 1942
