Pebley, 93, Jennerstown, formerly of Windber, died Jan. 23, 1997, at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 27, 1903, in Shade Township, son of the late Oliver and Effie (Duppstadt) Pebley. Also preceded in death by wife, former Martha Miller; son, Clair L., and these brothers and sisters: Paul, Frank, Ada Miller, Ralph, Merle, Ruth and Ethel Rodkey. Survived by daughter: Edna, wife of Richard D. Foust, Windber; also grandchildren: Dr. Richard D. Jr., married to the former Glenda Swanner, Flagstaff, AZ; Sallie E., wife of Thomas Coughenour, Johnstown, and William A., married to the former Rekiko Hitaka, Rural Hall, N.C. Also seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Clyde, Johnstown. Mr. Pebley was a teacher in the Shade, Paint and Adams Township schools for 37 years. He also was an administrator in the Fulton County Schools for 11 years, including 4 years as superintendent. Member of the P.S.E.A., Pennsylvania Assn. of School Retirees and Grace Lutheran Church, Windber, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Revs. Dennis Doebler and Robert Callihan will officiate. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Meek Funeral Home Inc., Windber. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
