PECK Word was received last Thursday by Mrs. Joseph F. Fahey of the death of Dr. Eugene C. Peck, who died that day at his home in Leonardtown, St. Mary's County, Md. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, Oct. 12, in the Episcopal Church, Leonardtown. Dr. Peck, a native of New London, Conn., came to Garrett County as Public Health Officer in 1933, and served the people of the county faithfully till 1937. He received the degree of Doctor of Medicine at Harvard University, the Public Health degree from Yale University, and served four years as a medical missionary in China prior to coming to Garrett County. Surviving are his wife and three children - Helen, Jean and Robin. Dr. Peck made many friends during his stay in Garrett County and carried the missionary spirit among the people - always ready to weather the storms to bring relief to the suffering and needy. He was in St. Mary's County the last nine years and was in ill health one year. Meyersdale Republican, October 18, 1946
