Peck, a retired teacher and principal with the Baltimore County School System, died of cancer at his Sudbrook Park home on April 7, 1983. He was born in Akron, Ohio but finished high school in Meyersdale. After graduating from Frostburg State Teachers College in 1940, Mr. Peck accepted a teaching position at Catonsville Elementary School. After eight months of teaching he was inducted in the Army where he served for four years in Administrative Services. He returned to Catonsville Elementary school for two years, then resigned for a year to obtain his Masters in Education at the University of Maryland. Mr. Peck returned to teaching at Franklin Elementary School, until he was made a teaching principal at the four room Hebbville Elementary school. In 1955 he became principal of Woodlawn Elementary school and in 1965 he became principal of Towson Elementary school. Because of serious eye problems, Mr. Peck retired in 1977. Mr. Peck was a member of many educational organisations including Phi Delta Kappa--at the University of Maryland. For many years, Mr. Peck spent his summers on the Baltimore County Department of Recreation Playgrounds, first as a playground director and then supervisor of Southwestern Baltimore County. Mr. Peck was a former member of the Woodlawn Lions then a charter member of the Windsor, Lions Club, where he has served as President and held other offices. He served as Zone Chairman and Cabinet Secretary for Lions District 22-A. Since retirement from the Baltimore County School system, Mr. Peck has volunteered his services as Executive Director of the Baltimore Association for the Visually Handicapped. In his spare time, Mr. Peck enjoyed bowling on a league and listening to the Talking Books for the visually impaired. He also enjoyed collecting coins and letter openers. Karl is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Stella Burr, a daughter, Karlette of Florida, and a son, Karl, of Sudbrook Park. Services for Mr. Peck were held at Sudbrook United Methodist Church on April 9 at 11:00 a.m., where he was a member. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baltimore Association for the Visually Handicapped, 130 W.
