Peltz, 85, Juniata Street, Boswell, died suddenly April 27, 2004, at home. Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Stoystown, son of John and Katherine (Homenda) Peltz. Preceded in death by parents; wife, former Eva Marie Kisula, July 17, 1977; and brothers, John, Stanley, Paul, Frank and Charles. Survived by daughters, Susan Peltz, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and Ginger Peltz, Lakewood, Colo.; brother, Antonio, Summerfield, Fla.; and sisters, Julia, widow of Steve Chowan, Boswell; and Agnes, married to Joseph Sierowtiecz, Summerfield, Fla. Graduate of former Stoystown High School. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served primarily in the Pacific Theater on the USS South Dakota, where he was present in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2, 1945, during the former surrender of the Japanese Forces to the Allied Powers. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish; Jenner Rod & Gun Club; Boswell Post 461, American Legion; New Baltimore and Jerome Sportsmen clubs, and the UMWA. Lifetime member of Somerset Post 554, VFW. Retired area coal miner with 50 years of service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Church, Boswell. The Rev. Father Mark Curesky, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell, with full military graveside rite in charge of Somerset County Honor Guard.
