Born April 16, 1920 in Ponfret, Vt., son of the late Ralph and Emma (Hubbard) Peoples. Beloved husband of the former Doris Wilt. Also survived by these children: John, married to the former Terri Weir and Linda, married to Michael Chowske, both of Wilton, N.Y.; grandchildren Lisa Marie and John Loren Peoples, Amber Coleen, Terry Alan and Sean Daniel Briscoe; stepchildren, Teresa, married to Dennis Weigle of Friedens, Andrew Miller, married to former Michele Bauermaster of Berlin, Anthony Miller and friend Stephanie Barnick, Somerset; stepgrandchildren Angie, married to Daniel Dively, Stephanie Miller, Heather Weigle, Jacob, Abraham, Gideon, Hannah, Silas, Ariellia and Madyson Miller; step-great granddaughter Courtney Dively; mother-in-law Gladys Wilt of Stoystown. Brother of Elizabeth Rugg of Massachusetts; Vera Churchel, Glencoe; and Rollin Peoples, New Jersey. A graduate of Princeton, Mass., High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball Graduate of Worcester Trade School as a machinist: World-War II Army veteran, having been wounded in the Battle of The Bulge while manning a bazooka. Retired after 30 years from the U.S. Postal Service and former Shanksville school bus driver. Loved fishing and auto racing, having raced and won under the name "Johnny Amber." Member of First United Methodist Church, Somerset. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Patricia Nelson.
