Born Nov. 3, 1893 in Cuba, son of Leoncio and Angelina (Falcon) Perez. Immigrated with his parents to Tampa when seven years old, where he grew up and lived most of his lifetime. On Nov. 4, 1985 he and his wife relocated to Texas to live near his grandson, Jay E. Walker. He was twice married. Six children were born to his first wife, Elvlra Perez. Sons, Leon Jr. and George, are both deceased. Daughters, Daisy Bickley, Betty Christenson, Jackie Lo Presto, and Jeanette all live in Tampa. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandehildren. His second marriage was May 27, 1950 to the former Margaret (Hay) Walker, formerly of Berlin and Somerset, who is a daughter of the late J. Nevin and Edith (Engle) Hay of Brothersvalley Twp. The couple spent many summers in Brothersvalley Township until their older years. In addition to hls second wife, he is survived by a step-son, Jay Edison Walker, Lubbock, Texas, two step-grandchildren, Jay E. II and Nola Walker, and a brother, Richard Perez, Tampa, FL. He had a long career as a salesman in Tampa. He went to work when he was 14 years old, delivering milk for a dairy with a horse and wagon. After delivering Cuban bread, he worked for the Tampa Electric as a street ear conductor. He was shipping clerk for a paper company, a furniture and car salesman, a Fuller Brush salesmen for the Vigo Importlng Co. In retirement years he continued as a jobber for many small neighborhood stores for various Italian foods with Vlgo Importing Co. Long-time member of the Seminole Heights United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class in Tampa. Viewing was held at the Duvall Funeral Home, Tampa, Fla., where funeral services were held Sept. 15. Interment. Garden of Memories Tampa. The Republic, October 16, 1986 [P0294]
