Perigo Sr., 67, of 217 Mississippi St., Boswell, DOA, Jan. 24, 1993, at Mercy Medical Center. Born July 9, 1925, in Jenners. Son of Angelo and Sebastianna (Calderone) Perigo. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Josephine "Jay" Donia, and brothers, Frank and John. Survived by his wife, the former Ethel Ravenscraft, and two children; Joseph J. Jr., married to Erma Mattaliano, and Stacy, wife of Kenny Miller, both of Boswell; also four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Melanie and Jody Perigo, and Billie Jo Miller. Brother of Catherine, widow of Stanley Vish, Boswell; Cannel, married to Nora Mull, Stoystown, and Dominic, married to Helen Bateman, Kennett Square. Also sisters-in-law, Rose Perigo, Puerto Rico, and Ann Perigo, Aurora, Ohio, and mother-in-law, Mabel Ravenscraft. Member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell, and church choir, Jenner Rod & Gun Club, Boswell Post 461 American Legion; Sugar Bush Antique Car Club and Rio Antique Club. Honorary member of Wills Grange and recipient of 1981 Community Citizen Award. Antique dealer. Employed by IU8 for 32 years and selected as Man of the Year in 1989. Devoted to helping handicapped children and was "Santa Claus" in the Boswell area for many years. Navy veteran of WWII. Served on U.S. Rocky Mount and attended numerous ship reunions. Retired PIAA official and former agent for Farmers & Traders Life Insurance Company. Friends were received Monday evening and will be received from 2 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, with Rev. Father Harold N. Biller officiating. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery. Daily American, January 26, 1993 [P0308]
