Pero Sr., 86, of Quecreek, died Feb. 14, 1979, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept, 26, 1892, in Mountain Top, Luzerne County, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Gregor) Pero. Preceded in death by wife, the former Anna Klimcho; two sons, John and Andrew Jr.; a sister, Verna; and a brother, John. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Polito, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Inez Pero and Mrs. Mary Pero, both of Somerset; three grandsons; one great-grandson; these brothers and sisters: Thomas, George, Anna Bednar and Ella Gregor, all of Central City; Joe, Barberton, Ohio; Steve, Cleveland, Ohio; Mary Salley, Mine 30; and Sue Hinkle, Chicago, Ill. He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Acosta; U.M.W. of A. Local 5287; and retired fire boss for Saxman Coal and Coke Co., Quecreek. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today, Thursday, in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where Wake Service will be conducted Friday 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday 10 a.m., St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Acosta, the Rev. J. Joseph Strittmatter.
