(Racky) 06/04/07 Daily American Ralph E. "Racky" Persuhn, 92, Juniata Street, Boswell, went to be with the Lord and his wife, Louise, June 3, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 13, 1914, in Pleasant Hill, son of William J. and Alice (Fisher) Persuhn. Preceded in death by parents; wife, of 50 years, the former V. Louise Miller, Feb. 19, 1988; son, Richard, 1945; granddaughters, Beverley and Brenda Straka; great-grandson, Malachi Wesley; five infant sisters and brothers; brothers, John and Clyde; and sisters, Dorothy, Effie Garrad and Susan Reffner-Atherton. Survived by children, Edward R., married to Sharon Berkebile, Hooversville; the Rev. William F. Sr., "Dutch," married to Patricia Mulcahey, Portage, Ind.; Linda Felesky, with whom he resided; and Jean Straka, Somerset; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his Jack Russell terrier, Becky. Brother of Mary Brant and husband, Billy, Somerset, and Robert, Ravena, Ohio. He was the oldest lifetime member of the Boswell Volunteer Fire Department, having served as president, assistant chief, fire chief and secretary. First member of the department to attend the state fire school. Member of the Jenner Rod and Gun Club, former Forest Fire Warden and avid fisherman. Current president of the UMWA local 1742. Retired from area coal mines with 44 years service. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. His son, the Rev. William F. Persuhn Sr. officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
