Born in Cassleman on May 30, 1913, the daughter of William Barnes and Flora (Lape-Trout) Putman. She was a descendent of Adam Schneider, a pioneer founder of Somerset. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Master Sgt. Charles E. "Ed" Peters, who died in 1948 on leave from duty in the U.S. Air Force, and siblings Robert Putman, Listie; Viola Schardt, Meyersdale; James Putman Johnson City, N.Y.; Albert Putman and Ralston "Red" Putman, both of Casselman and half brothers, Charles, Clarence and William Trout. Florence is survived by her daughter Marlene (Peters) Nagle, Rockwood and these grandchildren and their families: Lanie Nagle Goris and her husband Doug, daughter Trisha and son Joe, all of Lansing, Mich., Eric C. Nagle of Pen Run and Karl P. Nagle and wife Tammy, son Patrick and daughter Lauren, all of Stowe, Ohio. Her passing also leaves her younger sister Ida Mae (Putman-Pritts) McLeod of Johnstown. Edna Pyle of Rockwood is a good friend who also survives and prays for a better tomorrow. Mrs. Peters traveled with her husband to many bases of interest with their daughter. She had citations from the government for selling War Bonds, training for chemical warfare survival and Red Cross triage. She lived for two years on base at Borinquen Field in Puerto Rico and on bases from Virginia to the state of Washington. She was a member of the Rockwood Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, was an honorary member of the Rockwood Women's Club and was a member of the Rockwood Historical Society. She was a member of the Rockwood Church of the Brethren, where a memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jay Christner officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend.
