Born April 7, 1928, in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pa., son of the late John LaBar and Mary (Owens) Peters. Also preceded in death by granddaughter, Megan Leah Peters. Survived by wife, the former Genevieve Marie Strichik, and by son, John L. Peters, married to the former Michelle Long of Friedens RD 2; also two grandsons, John Ryan and Matthew David Peters. Brother of Warren S. Peters, Forty Fort, Pa. 1947 graduate of Plymouth High School. Veteran U.S. Army, Korean War. Retired in 1989 from Pennsylvania State Police with 35 years of service. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 181, and Fraternal Order of Police. Friends received from 7 to-9 p.m. Thursday (today) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hauger-Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral service at 10 a.m, Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, the Rev. Byron K. Myers officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. No viewing at church.
