Peterson, 60, of Hooversville, died March 7, 1978 in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Aug. 1, 1917, in Utahville, son of J. Howard and Gertrude (Hamilton) Peterson. Preceded in death by parents, brother Clair and infant sister. Survived by widow, the former Beatrice Wolford; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Norma) Masson, Falls Church, Va.; Mrs. Orlanda (Lacyne ) Hoffer of Acme; Mrs. Darrell (Janet) Humphrey, Fort Belvoir, Va.; also six grandchidren. Brother of Miss Kathryn of Altoona and Leonard of Tyrone. Ordained elder in United Methodist Church and had been in ministry for 38 years, having served in the following congregations: Mount Union, Allenport; Pine Grove Mills Casselman, Port Trevorton, Shanksville, Rockwood and Indian Head. In Hooversville charge for past 13 years, consisting of churches in Hooversville, Otterbein and Kantner. He was president of North Star Minsterium and Stewardship Director of Connellsville District. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will lie in state in Kantner United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Russell, district superintendent, will be in charge of services, assisted by the Rev. O.A. Womer, the Rev. J. Wesley Spahn and the Rev. Paul Scruton.
