Progress, Metamora, Ill., died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Snyder Village. Born Feb. 19, 1918, in Wilson Creek to Alexander and Valeria Kalmolski Piotrowski, he married Marie G. Reeser on March 10, 1946, in Eureka. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charles "Chuck" (and Mary) of Canfield, Ohio, and David (and Jeannie) of Galt, Calif.; six daughters, Joan (and Dr. Jim) Gilson of Davenport, Iowa, Valerie Petrosky, Anna (and Thomas) Ryan and Annette (and Drew) Vanderwulp, all of Peoria, Susan Petrosky of Phoenix, Ariz., and Laurie (and Mike) Moore of Glen Carbon; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 31st Infantry, Dixie Division, in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of American Legion Post 89. He was an inspector at Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He later was a school bus driver for Metamora High School for 17 years. He was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and Caterpillar Square Dance Club. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora and Knights of Columbus Lady of Sorrows 3060. A funeral Mass was held at his church. Burial was held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. Memorials may be made to Snyder Village or St. Mary's Grade School. Daily American, March 14, 2002 [P0381]
