Pettitt of Ridgway, Pa., died in Elk County General Hospital May 29, 1980, after an illness of one month. Born Sept. 18, 1891, in Fairfax, Va., a son of the late Henry and Cora (Pepper) Pettitt. He was employed as a signalman, having retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad. Member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, he is survived by five children: Mrs. Harry (Mae) Streich, Cheshire, Conn.; Mrs. Fred (Cora) Huston, Morristown, N.J.; Mrs. John (Mabel) Yonker of Ridgway; Henry Pettitt of Somerset; and Arthur D. Pettitt, Gautier, Miss.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Jennie, in 1965. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Merritt W. Edder officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Funeral will be held at the Lehman-Hammond Funeral Home, where friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Daily American, May 30, 1980 [P0391]
