F. Livengood in Black Township, on Saturday morning, March 15, after a long illness. She had been making her home with her son, J. C. Philippi, at Confluence, but left about one week ago for a two weeks' visit with her daughter at whose home she died, the cause of her death being a complication of diseases. Mrs. Philippi was born in Black Township on May 29, 1870. She was a daughter of Jonathan and Delilah Rhoads. She married Jacob Philippi about 40 years ago. He passed away in 1907. She is survived by three children - John C. Philippi, B. & O. electric lineman, Confluence; Mrs. Fern Livengood, Black Township, and Mrs. Ida Schrock, Elk Lick Township - and 16 grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters - Charles Rhoads of Kansas; James Rhoads, Deerfield, Ohio; Mrs. Ed Enos, Black Township; Mrs. Joseph Miller, Superior, Neb.; and Mrs. Mahlon Snyder, Davenport, Neb. She was a member of the Laurel Lutheran Church and was highly respected. The funeral took place at the Laurel Lutheran Church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Victor W. Miller officiating; interment in Rhoads Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. Among those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Philippi and family and Mrs. L. C. Raybeck, of Confluence.
