  PHILLIPPI, Alberta (Alverta) Mae 01/07/07  Daily American
  
   Alberta "Alverta" Mae Phillippi, 85, Ormond Ave., Sharon, formerly of Rockwood, passed
  away, Jan. 5, 2007, in Sharon Regional Health System. Mrs. Phillippi was born Oct. 26,
  1921, in Lavansville, a daughter of the late Norman and Vida Kimmel Gross. She was raised
  in Somerset County and attended Rockwood schools. Preceded in death by parents; husband,
  Sylvester Phillippi, whom she married on March 7, 1942, and who died Jan. 21, 1971; an
  infant son, Terry; two sisters, Thelma Gross and Maude Faidley; two brothers, Philip and
  Oscar Gross; a grandson, Patrick Thompson; and son-in-law, Edward Ruggles. She is
  survived by three daughters, Arlene J. Kalp and her husband, William, with whom she made
  her home; Norma J. Thompson and husband, Donald, New Centerville; and Vida K. Ruggles,
  Sharon; two sons, Jerry D. Phillippi, and wife, Carolyn, Mercer; and Dwain C. Phillippi
  and wife, Cheryl, Rockwood; a sister, Audrey Sanner and husband, Edmond, Rockwood; nine
  grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the New Centerville Church
  of God and while living in Sharon attended the Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene. A
  homemaker, she enjoyed making yarn crafts as gifts and giving them to family and her many
  friends. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Miller Funeral Home, 933 East
  Broadway St., Rockwood. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
  The Rev. Timothy Show, pastor of New Centerville Church of God, officiating. Interment in
  Laurel Cemetery, Rockwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Centerville
