Phillippi, 80, Somerset, died May 4, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 23, 1923, in Rockwood, he is the son of Ralph and Hazel (Weimer) Phillippi. Preceded in death by his parents, wife the former Betty Horner, sisters: Thelma Friedline, Maxine Miller, Doris and Phyllis Phillippi, and a brother Dale Phillippi. Survived by these children, Terry L. and fiance Gladys Leazier, Somerset; Trudy, married to Jerry Hinote, Udel, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and special friend Shirley Duvall. Graduate of Stoystown High School, World War II Army veteran, former Somerset County farmer, and retired from American Chain & Cable of York. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Somerset, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Raymond Lyon officiating.
