He was born Feb. 1, 1922 in Confluence. A son of the late John C. and Ruth M. (Hondel) Phillippi. He is survived by his wife Florence Best Phillippi; daughters Nema Richter, and her husband Ron of Uniontown, and Sue Sinclair and her husband Bob of Mocksville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Patrick Richter, and his wife Amy, Matthew Richter, David Hall and his wife Angela, and Emily Hall; also three great-grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Richter and Bailey Hall. A sister Grace Marple and a nephew John Marple, both of Deep Creek, Md. He was a US Coast Guard Veteran of World War 11 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Confluence and Meyersdale Lodge 554 F. & A. M. He retired from the B & O Railroad following 41 years of employment. Friends will be received from 7- 9 p.m. Saturday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence where services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or Somerset In Touch Hospice. Daily American, January 19, 2001 [P0448]
