Phillippi, 71, 152 Oakview Ave., Pittsburgh, died Jan. 25, 1993, at home. Born Aug. 7, 1921, in Somerset, son of the late Harvey D. and Stella (Coleman) Phillippi. Survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Jean Bentrim; sons: John Edward, married to the former Sue Kingston, and James Ernest, both of Pittsburgh; grandchildren: Jennifer and Steven. Also survived by his twin, James C., Penn Hills, and brother, Robert E., Somerset, and sisters: June Martin, Warrington, and Peggy Keeler, Knoxville, Tenn.; also dear friends, Nell Conley and Lee Anne Buchleitner. He was a World War II Marine veteran; served with Fourth Marine Division on Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He retired from Conrail after 34 years. Member of the American Legion, Uniontown; William D. Mcllroy Lodge 758, F&AM; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and Jaffa Temple of Altoona. Honorary member of Stoystown Hunting Club. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, with the Rev. Walter L. Startzel officiating.
