Mae Phillippi, 89, Hyndman Road, Hyndman, went to be with the Lord June 13, 2000, at WMHS Sacred Heart Hospital Cumberland, Md. Born Jan. 25, 1902, in the village of Edie, Somerset County, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Lizzie (Brendle) Shaffer. Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Edmund J. "Ed" Phillippi, in 1987; a daughter, Betty J. Leydig, in 1959; a son, Stanley J., in 1999; a brother, Donald Shaffer; and a sister, Bessie Miller. Surviving are one son, Ray O., and wife Shirley (Rohm), Sarasota, Fla.; one daughter, Mae Jean, wife of LaVon Kennedy, Hyndman; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Phillippi was a homemaker and former co-owner and operator of Phil's Restaurant, Hyndman. She was a member of the Hyndman First United Methodist Church, where she had been a member of the Annie Homer Bible Class. She was also a former member of the Hyndman Senior Citizens. Friends Will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Harvey FL Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Kerry Cathers. Interment will be in Hyndman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial contributions be sent to The Hyndman Library, Clarence Street, Hyndman.
