Ankeny Ave., Somerset died June 28, 1974 in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born in Somerset July 10, 1907, a son of John and Cora Shaulis Phillippi and is preceded in death by his parents and one step-brother, Jordan Wright. He is survived by his wife, Ada E. Leazier, and his children, Oran D., Lakeworth, Fla., Eleanor, wife of Eugene E. Nicholson, Somerset RD 5, Neal G., Phoenix, Ariz., Connie, wife of Carl L. Hetrick, Berlin RD 1, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He has one sister and one brother. Mrs. Rose Nicholson. Holly Hill. Fla., and E. J., Hyndman, Pa. He was a member of the first Christian Church and is a retired B and 0 employe, giving them 38 years service. He was a member of a brotherhood, Carmen of America. He was a retired state Little League Official and was instrumental in the formation of Somerset's Little League. He was known in baseball circles as "Mr. Baseball." Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Saturday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services will be conducted on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Paul P.Weber officiating.
