"Dig" Phillippi, 78, North Avenue, Geneva, Ohio, died Thursday, June 3, 1993, at his home. Born Feb. 16, 1915, in Rockwood, son of John and Sadie (Knopsnyder) Phillippi. Lived in Geneva for 45 years. Was employed by Union Carbide for 15 years. He was police officer for Geneva on the Lake; honorary deputy, Ashtabula, County Sheriff's Dept. and member of National Rifle Association. Enjoyed hunting and horses. Survivors include wife, Melda (Sanner) Phillippi; 2 sons Jack of Ladson, S.C.; Oscar, address unknown; 2 daughters Maxine Zorn, Rockwood; Wanda Phillippi, address unknown; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Robert, Roy and Charles, all of Rockwood; 2 sisters: Pearl Klink and Hazel Mag, both of Rockwood. Preceded in death by parents, and 4 brothers: Dan, Clyde, Elmer and Fred; 4 sisters: Irene Younkin, Nettie Wilson, Agnes Moore and Leora Phillippi. Funeral at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the graveside, with the Rev. Archie Smith, Church of God of Glade City, officiating. Burial at Laurel Cemetery, Rockwood.
